Writing New Stories as We Go

Is there a story you’ve waited your whole life to live? Perhaps you’ve dreamt of your wedding day or planned every detail of buying your first home. Maybe you’ve painstakingly crafted the story of your business’s launch party or your child’s first birthday.

Growing up, one of my favorite stories was of my mother telling my father that she was pregnant. Every tiny portion of the story resonated with me—from my dad’s softball practice to my mother’s light green nightgown. It was truly the most romantic story I’d ever heard, and for years I was determined to replicate every detail when I someday shared my pregnancy with my own husband.

Like many things in life, though, the moment I’d imagined didn’t turn out quite the way I had planned.

In today’s video, I’ll share the story of what actually happened, and I’ll tell you why this unexpected story means so much more to me than the one I anticipated.
